Frequently Asked Questions

Why take a pedicab tour?

A pedicab tour is one of the most personal, flexible, and enjoyable ways to experience the city. Unlike cars and buses, we can go places they can’t, which means you get to see more of the city up close and from a more interesting perspective. Unlike walking, you can cover more ground without getting tired.

It’s also a private, open-air experience, so you can ask questions, stop whenever you like, and enjoy the city at your own pace. And as a bonus, our guides are EXPERT amateur photographers who are always happy to stop and help you capture the moment — whether that’s your next family photo album shot, Christmas card picture, Tinder profile pic, or your classic “look at my amazing life” Instagram post.

Your longer tours sound amazing, but I’m not sure my kids — or I — can sit for that long. Can we get out to stretch our legs?

Absolutely. One of the best parts of our longer tours is that there are plenty of great places to stop, stretch your legs, and enjoy the city a little more. Along the way, you might feed the peacocks in Beacon Hill Park, climb a giant Sequoia tree, take in the views at Government House, climb the 87 stairs at Craigdarroch Castle, grab ice cream at the old Beacon Hill Drive In, or walk the narrowest street in North America. And those are just a few highlights — there are far too many great stops to list. Just let your driver know what kind of pace works best for you, and we’ll do our best to make the tour comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.

Can I pay in US Dollars?

Yes! We’re happy to accept U.S. cash. We’ll convert your Canadian-dollar total to U.S. dollars using a fair current exchange rate, with no additional currency-conversion fee. Please note that we may not always have enough cash on hand—especially U.S. cash—to provide change.

Credit card payments are processed in Canadian dollars. Your card issuer or bank will automatically convert the charge to U.S. dollars using their applicable exchange rate.

Do you still provide tours when it’s raining?

Yes, of course! We aren’t made of sugar so we won’t melt. Our cabs are also equipped with waterproof blankets and canopies so you should have no problem staying dry.

Do I need to bring anything?

We recommend bringing a warm jacket and, if you have them, a toque and thin gloves if your tour starts or ends in the evening. It can get quite cool after dark, even in the summer months — and for my tropical and desert friends, it might feel downright cold. This is especially true in the shoulder season months of March, April, late September, and October. It’s also not a bad idea to bring water and a few snacks, although there will usually be plenty of opportunities to grab both along the way.

What if I can’t make my tour?

We offer a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance. If you need to change or cancel your booking, please let us know as soon as possible. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may not qualify for a refund.

I’m prone to motion sickness. How jarring is the ride?

Pedicab rides are generally very smooth and gentle, especially compared with buses or horse-drawn carriages. We have never received a complaint from any guest that the ride made them feel motion sick. That said, road and pathway surfaces can vary, so you may notice the occasional bump. If you’re prone to motion sickness, let us know before or at the start of your tour and your driver can take a slower, smoother route whenever possible and avoid sudden stops or rougher areas.

What if I see a shop I want to visit?

Absolutely — we’re usually happy to make a stop at a shop, café, restroom, or anywhere else that catches your eye along the way. Just keep in mind that stop time is included in your overall tour time. Let your driver know what you’d like to do, and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

Do I need to wear a helmet? How safe is it?

Helmets are not required for passengers on our pedicab tours. Safety is a top priority for us, and we’re proud to have a perfect safety record. Victoria is also one of the most bike-friendly cities in Canada, with an extensive network of protected bike lanes and ongoing expansion of its all-ages-and-abilities cycling routes. In the summer, some of the streets we use are pedestrian-priority areas with restricted vehicle access, which helps create an even more relaxed and enjoyable ride. If you have any specific safety concerns, just let us know — we’re always happy to help you feel comfortable before your tour.

Your tours say they end at Ogden Point or in front of the Empress Hotel, but I might want to finish at my hotel or a favourite restaurant. Is that possible?

Yes, in many cases we can arrange a different drop-off location within our operating area. Ogden Point and the Empress Hotel are our standard start and end points, but we’re often happy to finish at a nearby hotel, restaurant, or other convenient downtown location. Just mention your preferred drop-off when booking or let your driver know at the start of the tour, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Some of your tours involve stops — what if my mobility is limited and I have trouble standing or walking?

No problem. We’re happy to accommodate guests with limited mobility whenever we can. Many of the sights can still be enjoyed from the pedicab, and your driver can adjust the tour to minimize walking or standing. Just let us know about any mobility concerns when booking, and we’ll do our best to recommend the most comfortable tour option for you.
